It has now been more than a month that our churches have not gathered physically, yet we are still connected by the spirit. Realizing that for many these days seem long, let’s remember this too will pass as our God sees best for us. In Psalm 145:13-19 we find the psalmist David expressing these thoughts: “Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.”
I happened to come across a quote this week from an anonymous author. Thought it was worth sharing:
“Sometimes we’re tested, not to show our weaknesses but to discover our strengths”
We are still greatly blessed in this part of the world! Don’t lose heart, there is “Heavenly Sunlight” above those dark clouds, and that glorious light will eventually pierce the clouds to warm our souls!
This is also the time of year when we look forward to welcoming our baptism candidates who have made the decision to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour. There are candidates throughout our conference who are anticipating baptism this June. The exact format of baptism services will be communicated in more detail next month, as it will be somewhat dependent on the state of emergency and physical distancing laws in effect at that time. We do intend to hold baptism services, while also respecting the laws of our province and country. Let’s continue to support the candidates prayerfully even though we can’t do it in the usual congregate setting. Thank-you!
This morning’s first worship service comes to you from the Winkler Sommerfeld Church with Bishop Ken Funk delivering the message.
